Pair quized by police amid probe into fake illness claims

Two Britons suspected of encouraging tourists to make fake food poisoning claims have been held by police in Majorca.
The pair were detained yesterday by officials in northern Majorca in what are believed to be the first detentions of their kind in Spain.

Officers were understood to be probing whether the suspects were acting on their own or if they belong to one of the claims firms linked to the scam.

The pair are believed to have been targeting British holidaymakers in hotels in Alcudia – the main tourist centre in the north of Majorca.
