Man arrested for phantom airline scam

A Madrid man has been arrested by Spanish police after setting up a fake airline and cheating 67 “passengers” out of a total of €50,000, booking them on a flight to Paraguay that didn’t exist.

The Spanish National Police have issued a press release (in Spanish) advising that 43-year-old Alberto Q.P. advertised himself as an airline with cheap flight offers.

He opened up 2 fake travel agencies and set up a website, and also advertised his special “cheap” rates on the local radio and by handing out leaflets in the street.
