Pilot jailed after lying about experience to get a job with British Airways..

Craig Butfoy, of Matfield, Kent, was sentenced to 12 months behind bars following a hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on Monday (28 March).

He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to four counts of fraud, one count of knowingly making false entries in a logbook and one count of intentionally altering a logbook.

The CAA said Butfoy acted “in order to obtain or retain employment with BA CityFlyer and Stobart Air”.

His offending came to light after he made false representations about his flying experience, qualifications and references in order to obtain or maintain employment between April 2016 and March 2018.

He also knowingly made false entries in his logbook and intentionally altered entries at times when his employment was under review.
