Black Tip Travel seeks insolvency advice

Business travel agency Black Tip Travel is seeking insolvency advice having lost its membership of Abta and The Advantage Travel Partnership.

The agency, based in Tonbridge, Kent, put a statement on its website saying that it is “currently undergoing some issues” and asked customers to contact its customer services team for information on refund requests or flight cancellations.

It blamed booking errors leading to “heavy losses”.

The statement on its website said: “Black Tip Travel Ltd is currently undergoing some issues and we are trying to work through these as quickly as possible. If you have flights that have been cancelled and need a refund or are chasing a refund please email us: customer.services@blacktiptravel.com.

“We are currently getting insolvency advice so we can work through these problems and will respond as soon as we can.

“During this time we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We have made successful arrangements for hundreds of satisfied customers but due to errors being made on some bookings the company took heavy losses creating the situation it is in now. We hope to work through this and get back on track soon.”

Abta confirmed that Black Tip Travel, a former Advantage Travel Group member, has ceased its membership of Advantage, and thus Abta, on September 21.

Advantage also confirmed the agency had left its consortium, but said it was not able to comment further at this stage.
