Travel agent provides a fraud warning

A Perthshire business has issued a warning to holidaymakers after an apparent fraudulent site was create with an identical name in their mind.

An investigation has been launched after some residents were duped into utilizing a fraudulent holiday company, calling themselves ‘The Travels Bar’, an identical name to a favorite, legitimate business, called The Travel Bar, located in Blairgowrie.

Some customers buying flights and holidays from the fake website have fallen prey to the misleading title and also have inadvertently lost money – sometimes a huge selection of pounds – by purchasing tickets for flights which don’t exist.

Brenda McCready, owner and director of The Travel Bar for 15 years says her business has already established to handle the aftermath of several of the cases – and is pleading for folks to be skeptical when buying online.

She said: “I believe people need to find out it’s got nothing around at all to
do.

“What I don’t want is for folks to avoid using us.

“The thing is people an excessive amount of on the web companies rely.”

Brenda has 41 years experience in the travel business, and explained that she thinks the fraudsters are based “down south” since they seemed to have a London contact number, but said it keeps changing.
