Package holidays could soar in price because of a surge in fraudulent food poisoning claims against all inclusive resorts, a trade body has claimed.

Experts are warning a growing epidemic of travel sickness fraud has become the new bogus whiplash claim industry which poses the biggest threat the travel industry has seen in years.

The surge in fake cases could lead to British holiday makers being banned from all-inclusive resorts, according to Abta warnings.

Over the past four years a number of food poisoning claims firms have sprung up in popular destinations, encouraging UK holidaymakers to sue hotels for bogus food poisoning episodes.
