Why Security Matters
The best defences against fraud are useless if they are let down by your security processes.
Physical Security
Whilst you do not wish to make your work premises a forbidding, prison-like, fortress, it is important to have an appropriate level of security that protects your business from unwanted and potentially harmful attention.
Make sure that all external doors and windows can be properly secured and that locks and bolts are all in good working order. Have someone clearly identified to be responsible for ensuring that the office is secured when all staff leaves.
Where you rely on a lock with a number pad make sure that the regular use of the code is not obvious due to the cleanliness of the keys that comprise the code numbers.
