While it is true that some travel scams do occur, compared to millions of trouble free bookings fraud is very much in the minority.

It is the aim of Prevention of Fraud in Travel to ensure that you can continue to make bookings with the confidence that the organisations operating within the travel industry are working to ensure your booking is trouble free.

If you have made a booking and suspect there may be a problem Prevention of Fraud in Travel recommends that you:

1. Speak directly with the company you have booked with to see if they can resolve your concerns.

2. Try and speak directly with the company you are travelling with or staying with, if your booking is genuine they will have a record of your booking.

3. Go on to the internet and see if there are any reviews or blogs relating to your booking that may be able to assist you.

4. If the company you have booked with is a member of a trade body such as ABTA or ATOL contact the trade body to see if they can assist.

5. Contact your bank to make them aware of the problems you are having, they may be able to assit you.
